Chapter 4

Greece was great. The bright sun and the blue seas enchanted me. Spending time with Agatha made me forget about all my problems back home. We did so many things together; I was really enjoying time there. But I felt this thing inside, like I missed somebody back home, making me want to go back when I was having such a great time that when it was time to leave, I didn’t want to go home.

In the plane, I had 15 hours to sleep, think, watch movies, listen to music, and do whatever I could so I didn’t get bored. I had just enough time to do all of these, and I still got bored.

When I got home, we went out for dinner in a small place downtown called Browne Grill. Just then, my phone rang, I looked at it quickly but I put it back in my bag; my parents hated it when I got a phone call in the middle of a meal. I only saw that the first letter of the contact who called me was a T.

I immediately thought of Tom. That was until I checked my phone and returned the call; it had been Tyler. I had mentioned him before but didn’t say much about him. Tyler is a 16-year-old boy who I met in my guitar lessons; he plays the drums and sings in a band called Purple Ice. In the guitar lessons we became friends, he was beginning like me, because he also played the drums.

When I called him back he said that he had two tickets to go to my favorite band’s concert. It was in a week, and my parents were okay with it.

But the week before the concert I saw Tyler. We went to get a shake at 60 Shakes, a shake place I loved, it was all retro and played music from the sixties. In this place you could order a shake made out of ANYTHING! My favorite one was definitely nutella strawberry. He ordered a 3 musketeers banana.

Tyler was a really cute guy; he had pale blue eyes and dark brown hair. He was about my height and his parents were Australian but they had been in the USA for long.

Tyler was a really cool guy; he played the drums and the guitar and sung too. He and I talked for hours. He was so interesting and fun. We laughed a lot. Suddenly my phone rang. It was Tom. I stood up and signaled Tyler to wait a sec. I answered the call outside of the shake place.

- Hey! What’s up? – I answered.

- Hey Aly! How are you? – He said.

- I’m good, how about you? – I said.

- I’m pretty okay, I guess. – He said. – And how was Greece? –

- Really good. I got back the day before yesterday. – I said.

- I need to go now; I just needed to say hi to you… -

- Okay bye! – I said and he hung up. I went back into the shake place and sat down.

Tyler was slurping what was left of his shake.

- So what time should I pick you up on Monday? – He said smiling.

- Whatever works for you is fine. – I said.

- Okay, maybe 7:30? –

- Yeah, that would be ok. –

- Okay see you then. – He said. He walked home with me and hugged me goodbye when we got there.

I entered my house and went to the computer. I chatted with my friend Becca who was on vacation in Los Angeles visiting her granddad. She told me that she saw Tom walking in the street but couldn’t say hi to him. I lived in a small town in California and during the hot summer, there was not much to do. So I burrowed my dad’s camera and walked around town taking cool pictures. I had some pretty cool ones but I still got bored because my friends were so lame that nobody was in town and the ones who were didn’t want to go out.

All along the week I had nothing to do and for some weird reason I could only thin about two things…

The concert on Monday night and I wondered when would Tom call me.

Whenever I thought about those 2 guys, I felt like I had dragonflies in my stomach…

Chapter 3

The next week I saw Tom almost everyday, we would go get ice cream and walk in the beach.
He had once been my dream guy, but now, he was my best friend. We talked about everything going on in our lives, and I could say that I enjoyed going out with him because, he was so nice and sweet, and I could talk about anything with him.
One morning I got a text from Tom:

-Are you busy today? - He texted me.
-Not really, why? – I texted back.
-I’m having a rehearsal, why don’t you come? I know that you enjoy dancing. He texted.
-The sounds cool. –
-Sweet, I’ll pick you up at your house. –

We went to the theater and they started rehearsing dance. I quietly sat and observed. I knew every move he made. I had been an obsessed fan at some point and, I also loved dance, so I just quietly observed him move. Then I noticed something. He skipped a beat. He made a mistake, I couldn’t stay quiet.

-You skipped a beat. – I said.
-Oh, I did? Are you criticizing the way I dance? – He said with a daring smile on his face.
-Yeah, I am telling you that you made a mistake. – I said.
-Well, why don’t you come up to the stage and teach me how to dance correctly? – He said. The smile on his face showed me that we both knew this was all a game. We were good friends though we had met not long ago.
-Okay, if you want to see me dance… - I said and climbed up the stage.
I danced and his steps came to me naturally, but I still added my own moves.
When I stopped Tom said:
-Oh, you haven’t seen my best moves. –
-It’s on! – I said and smiled.
Then his friend Andrew said:
-The looser kisses the winner! – And he smiled.
Tom and I looked at each other. He danced then I danced, when I finished, Tom approached me slowly and kissed me.
Then he said:
-I was gonna loose anyways… you are a great dancer. – He said and laughed a little. He was just so sweet that I forgot for a moment that he was Tom Elliot, the superstar, he was my best friend Tom...
We both smiled.
-Okay guys, let's rehearse one more time.-
He smiled at me as I climbed down the stage and sat down.
Then I noticed I had to leave because I had agreed with my mom that I’d be home by 1:00 for lunch, and it was already 1:18.
-I’m sorry, but I need to go to lunch. – I said. I said goodbye to Tom and his friends and walked home.
I had lunch with my family and my parents told my brother and I we were going on vacations to Greece for 3 weeks when finals were over, which was this week.
I was excited. Greece was my favorite place to visit. The deep blue sea and the white marble constructions, I loved it! And I got to spend three weeks there! Partly this was because my birthday was in a month. I was so excited about Greece also because my cousins lived there since my mom’s mom was Greek. And I knew how to speak Greek very well too.

We finished finals that week and flied to Greece on Saturday.
When we got there I was really glad to see my cousin Agatha. She was about my age and we were really great friends. Every summer Agatha and I would go to this little beach nobody knew and spend the whole day there talking. That’s what we did the next day, we grabbed a picnic basket and put on our bathing suits and sunscreen and went to the hidden beach. We talked all day long. I told her about Tom and how I met him. Then we swam in the sea and dived for seashells. I loved visiting Agatha.

-Wait, what? You know Tom Elliot? – Agatha said.
-Yes, and well…- I said but paused.
-Well, what? – Agatha said.
-We kissed the other day.- I said and blushed.
-What? You kissed Tom Elliot? – She said.
-Actually, one time I kissed him, and another he kissed me…- I said and watched m cousin’s surprise face.
-You’ve kissed? Twice? Wow Aly, you surprise me. – She said. – And 6 months ago you only dreamed of him, now you 2 have kissed. Seriously, wow.-
-I know, I am surprised too.- I said.
-Do you wanna go explore the other side of the hidden beach? – Agatha said.
-Yeah, let’s do it! – I said and we both smiled. And then we stood up and went to explore whatever was behind the huge rocks on hidden beach. So far, this had been my favorite summer ever.

Chapter 2

Early Update  :D

Was I over him? Yes I was. His concert was in a week and I wasn’t interested, I guess some obsessions can be eliminated.

-Guess what my daddy got me? - Olivia Scott said at school.
-A brain? – I said.
-Oh, you are so funny Aly! But no, I got something better.  – She said. – I got VIP passes to Tom Elliot’s concert next week! –
-Yeah, I don’t really care. – I said and walked away, even though I felt like I did want to go, but I had moved on.

Then came the weekend. And as every Saturday, I went to the park with my ipod and a book.
I just sat in my normal spot in a normal Saturday when I heard someone coming near my spot. I looked his navy blue converse and figured he was a guy. He suddenly sat down next to me, but I didn’t look up.

-Hey. – He said.
Without looking up I said:
-Hey –
-So you come here on Saturdays? – He said. Who was he and why did he care?
-Who are…- I started saying while looking up, and then I stopped talking and looked at him with wide eyes.
-My name is Tom Elliot, are you Aly Thompson? – He said with a cute little smile. He was wearing a Hollister sweatshirt even though it was almost summer and he was holding a sunflower, my favorite flower.
-What? Who? How? – I mumbled.
-Why don’t we go for a walk and I’ll explain everything? –
-That would be good. – I said and stood up throwing my book and ipod into my bag.
-This is for you – He said and handed me the flower. I blushed and smiled.
–Thanks. –
-So, you want to go get an ice cream? – He said.
-Yeah, I guess that would be nice. – I said. And we started walking into a ice cream store.
-Explain yourself. – I said, as we walked up to order ice cream.
-Well, the kiss, 3 months ago, it left me thinking. That night you looked really pretty, and I cannot get that concert out of my mind… - he said.
-But doesn’t stuff like this happen to you all the time? I don’t see how I’m special here. -
-Every time this happens I go on, and forget about it, but I just couldn’t forget you…- he said. – And I decided I wanted to get to know you more. –
-Cool, I guess… - I said. – Wanna go walk in the park? –
-Sounds fun. –
We walked around and talked about everything, after a few minutes I felt like we were long time friends. I laughed every time he said a joke. He was really funny and cool.
- So you just asked Becca’s aunt who I was and stuff and she told you? – I said.
-Well, actually I asked her and she gave me Becca’s phone number…-
-Cool. – I said.
We talked and had a great time until I had to go back home.
-We can walk home together. – He said –Where is your house? –
-It’s on River Creek st. 23 –
-Really? My parents’ apartment is just one street from there; May I walk with you home? – He said.
-Yeah I guess we can walk together. We’ve been doing it for the past hour. –
-Cool, now give me your phone number. –
I gave him my phone number and we walked until we got to my house.
-Okay, bye! – I said and I went inside.
What had just happened? I just hoped it hadn’t been a dream because it was AWESOME!

Chapter 1

Tom Elliot… who is Tom Elliot?

Well, he’s a pop star, the one everybody loves. He’s got everything, he’s hot, he has a great voice and he is a wonderful dancer. He is as famous as any 16 year old can get. He is tall with chocolate brown hair and green eyes.

And who am I? Well my name is Aly Thompson. I am 15 years old, and I love Tom Elliot, I listen to his music everyday. I’d do anything to meet him. I am the typical girl who’d do anything to get noticed.

I know this might sound like any book you find on the “teens” shelf at Barnes and Noble, but I promise there is a reason to why this story is written here.

Anyways, I’ve already told you who I am, and that I love Tom Elliot. I love him so much that I begged my parents to let me go to his concert. And since it was taking place at a theater that is only two blocks away from my house; they let me go with Rebecca, my best friend who is also 15 like me.

That night, I was as excited as anyone could be; I was going to see Tom Elliot, and meet him too, since Becca’s aunt had an important job at the theater, though we were only going to say hi to him and go, I was really nervous because I was going to meet my dream, in person! I just couldn’t believe it!

The concert was amazing, every song he sang I felt like his amazing olive green eyes were looking at me. Becca and I were having the time of our lives. We knew the words to all of his songs.

Then, the time was here, we were going backstage, I was about to faint. I felt my heartbeat in my ears; I couldn’t believe what was happening.

As we walked in backstage I saw him standing there in the hallway, he was smiling and talking to his manager about the concert.

We walked up to him.

-Hey! - He said.

-Well, there he is. - Becca’s aunt said. – I’ll be back in a second. –

- So, hey girls what are your names? – His smile was so so so cute in person!

- I’m Aly – I said. My knees were trembling and my heart was beating really fast, I felt like I had a knot in my throat. And my stomach felt like it was being squeezed.

- My name is Rebecca. –

- Nice meeting you girls, so, how old are you guys? –

-We are both 15. – Becca said.

-Sweet. – He said. – We should hang out sometime, it was nice meeting you, but I need to go now. Hope to see you some other time. –

We hugged goodbye and just when he approached me, I kinda kissed him? Okay, I kissed him; I guess I just panicked… I figured it was my only chance to do it ever. Then Becca’s aunt shouted:

-Girls we need to go! –

I pulled away and said:

-Uh, sorry, great meeting you, bye! -

And we ran into the door on the end of the hallway where Becca’s aunt was and we went home.

-What was that? - Becca asked.

-I don’t know, I guess I panicked. – I said.

- Well, that was awesome! I wish I had the guts to do that! – Becca said smiling. She was my best friend; I never got tired of being with her.

That night, I couldn’t fall asleep, I kept thinking about that kiss.

Then I decided I would pretend that that kiss had never happened. Tom Elliot was no longer my obsession; I wanted to start playing the guitar and get over that trauma once for all.

The next day, at school, Olivia Scott approached me.

-Well, how was the concert with the love of your life? – She said with a stupid fake smile

‘Awesome’ I said inside my head. But I just ignored her.

-Did your love, Tom Elliot kiss you? – She continued, trying to upset me.

‘Something like that’ I said in my head still ignoring her.

-Do you really care? Or you are just here because you are jealous you didn’t go? – I responded. Oh, I can be mean if I want to. –Are you jealous that the closest you’ve ever been to him has been when he’s on a poster? Please stop wasting my time and go kiss your stupid posters, yeah thanks. – And I walked away.

Months passed and I was finally getting over Tom. I met a guy called Tyler, he played the drums, but we were never anything than just friends. Te concert had been in February, it was now June. I was almost sure I was over Tom Elliot but then, his tour came to my city again and he was going to stay there for like a month or something since his parents had an apartment here. Was I over Tom Elliot? Oops.

‘I am over him, I am over him, I am over him, I am over him’ I repeated in my mind while looking at a poster. ‘Am I really? Yes I am’
